Contract negotiations in Shikellamy School District

SHIK SIGNSUNBURY- Negotiations will begin again in the Shikellamy School District.  School board member Scott Karpinski says the board wants to reach an agreement that the teachers accept.

He says, “We’re trying to achieve a final agreement that is absolutely acceptable to all the teachers and also serves the best interests of our tax payers. We just have not been able to come to dates that work and we definitely want to get an agreement for everybody that works well.”

Karpinski says the board is interested in resolving these issues and there are dates being discussed to negotiate a contract.

Karpinski says, “I think we’re ready right now and I think there are some dates on the table and I believe there are some secessions coming up. We are extremely interested in resolving these issues and getting to a final agreement so that we can move on.”

The next bargaining secession is expected to begin in the next few weeks. WKOK told you earlier this week Shikellamy teachers authorized a strike, and we interviewed the Mark McDade of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. You can read that story at WKOK.com. (Emily Engle)
