LEWISBURG — Union County Commissioners have filled the final vacant seat on the housing authority board. At their meeting Tuesday, commissioners appointed Jana Hollenbach to fill the seat erroneous filled by Gerald Torre last year. Commissioner Chairman Preston Boop spoke about the appointment.
“The significant thing that impressed us more about Jana was the fact that she is working her way out of the system and moving on. But she qualifies to be an appointment for this year until December 31.”
There were no developments on the proposed Union County Housing Taskforce. Commissioner John Showers said the board is still interviewing for a consultant who will work with the county’s Planning and Economic Development Office. An announcement concerning the taskforce is expected to be made March 1.
County resident Char Gray attended the meeting to voice her concerns about the financial viability of the Penn House Commons project.
“What came out in last month’s Union County Housing Authority meeting was they acknowledged that they have never done a full financial study of what it is going to truly cost the taxpayers.”
Gray said it would be “foolish” to proceed with the project before the proposed taskforce determines what it will cost. (Kory Kramer)
