NORTHUMBERLAND, Pa. (AP) — A man who befriended Sharon and Randy Budd, after Sharon Budd was critically injured, recalls the torment Randy Budd experienced. Sharon Budd was injured by a five-pound rock dropped from an Union County interstate overpass.
Jeff Farrow of Northumberland, said Tuesday he’s unsure why Randy Budd killed himself Saturday, but recalled how difficult it was for him to see Sharon Budd suffering. He said he knows Randy was deeply devoted to her and plagued by the severity of the wounds she suffered.
Farrow says Randy Budd “would try to wind down and just cry and cry and cry,” saying he couldn’t believe what happened to her.
Four teens were convicted and sentenced to incarceration after pleading guilty or no contest for participating in the July 2014 attack on Interstate 80. Sharon Budd suffered significant brain damage and lost her right eye.
