Clausi considering outsourcing MH/MR etc.

vinny clausiSUNBURY – More workers in Northumberland County could lose their jobs. Northumberland County Commissioner Vinny Clausi says that the Department of Human Services could be outsourced, much like the Department of Weatherization. Clausi says that it would save money in the county, “We might look into privatizing them too because we can no longer afford to have a union running the county and they want to run the employees and they want to run the county. That is unacceptable.”

Clausi says that all of Human Services including Children and Youth, MHMR, and Juvenile Probation would all be privatized, “Children and Youth is going to be a little tough because you can privatize a certain department but not all of it. MHMR you can privatize the whole thing, and Probation you can privatize the whole thing. Do I want to do that? No. We need some workforce to be in the county.” Commissioner Clausi discussed the possibility of outsourcing the Department of Human Services recently on WKOK’s On the Mark.

While Clausi said the shutdown of Weatherization wasn’t retaliation for union complaints, if the human service unions don’t comply, he will shut down their departments. (Emily Engle)
