SUNBURY – The effort to bring a community college to Sunbury has taken a step forward, with classes being offered this coming spring. The Susquehanna Valley Community Education Project announced they will offer three mini-sessions to the public, with the three classes being taught at Shikellamy High School.
The classes will be taught on Wednesdays between March 2 and April 13, 2016. Rick Shoch, chairman of the board for the project, says they will start with three-mini courses and contingent upon licensing and state board of education approval, will add certification courses in the 2016-17 academic year.
The classes offered are available to high school-aged students and adults and include Navigating the Route to College, Job Hunting & Getting Hired and Statistics for Dummies. The Susquehanna Valley Community Education Project Board is looking to establish a community college, based in Sunbury, to offer affordable higher education to all parts of The Valley.
