LEWISBURG — Opponents of the proposed Penn Commons housing development are questioning the legitimacy of the funding application. The Susquehanna Valley Conservatives suggest there may be fiduciary conflict of interest for attorney Peter Matson.
Matson is on the board of the Union County Housing Authority, is the solicitor for East Buffalo Township, and is on the board of directors of West Milton State Bank.
Stan Zellers, president of the Susquehanna Valley Conservatives says, “How can he properly discharge his fiduciary responsibility for all of those three parties with all the interconnectedness?”
Zellers says the funding application to Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency had to have a sponsoring bank. West Milton State Bank is on the application, “West Milton State Bank is named on the application which allowed the application to move forward. The fact that it has moved forward, is it now tainted?
Zellers says they are not alleging any illegal activity or financial conflict of interest on the part of Peter Matson. WKOK attempted to contact Matson for comment, but our call was not returned. (Jennifer Wakeman)
