WATSONTOWN — An embattled mayor got some support Monday night. David Hontz, Watsontown mayor was the subject of a petition last year requesting his resignation. Citizens came to the mayor’s defense after a discussion turned to a recent newspaper article saying the mayor was bullying and harassing residents. Borough council said they have never received any complaints about the mayor bullying anyone.
Also discussed at the meeting was the criminal mischief charge against Hontz, in which police say he removed a sign from a Watsontown resident’s yard. The incident on Main Street involved the mayor throwing the sign against their barn. Council stated that the incident had been discussed internally. (Jack Spaulding)
