SUNBURY—During Monday night’s city council meeting, one citizen berated Mayor David Persing. It happened during the public comment opportunity while council was discussing the police department.
Paul Troup claimed that Mayor Persing is withholding the truth, “How can you continue to protect scumbags such as Scott Hause…that you know is a corrupt officer. You know the things he has done. But, you sit up there and you lie to the city. You know the truth, you know the matter, you know what he did. So, why don’t you step up and do something about it.”
He also claims Persing is a “disgrace to the city”. Persing opted for a mild response to Troup’s accusations, “We deal with facts. Not fiction. We have to deal with fact. I have facts.”
The scene ended when Troup invited Officer Scott Hause to address the meeting, but Hause remained quiet in the back of the room. It has not yet been disclosed why Troup is accusing Hause of being a corrupt officer. (Kory Kramer)
