The fire at 121 North Orange Street started around 2 a.m. and when crews arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames.  Multiple firefighters from Snyder and Union Counties were called to the scene, but were unable to save the former church, which burned to the ground.

The owner of the home is Cathy Whitehead, who escaped safely.  A fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire.  Whitehead purchased the former church in 2015, with the intention of converting the first floor into a museum featuring Davy Jones and Monkees memorabilia.  The former church is one of the oldest structures in Beavertown, dating back to 1880.  (Ali Stevens)
