DANVILLE – The Central Susquehanna Community Foundation is providing a day of education and professional development for child care professionals. Holly Morrison, president and CEO of the foundation says the summit fills a need in the community, “There wasn’t, in our area, this kind of professional development for persons who service our children in our area. We really felt compelled to provide some type of seminar, summit, and professional development for workers who are out there in the trenches every day working with children who have been abused.”
There are three keynote speakers as well as breakout sessions on a variety of topics. Kara Seesholtz is director of donor relations and communications, “We have a full day. Thirteen different sessions overall and then our breakout sessions, we have five sessions to pick from in the morning and the afternoon.”
Additionally, there will be a free parent training event August 4 at 7 p.m. at the Danville Middle School auditorium, “Jim Holler, who is our closing keynote at the summit, has offered to do a very powerful one hour parent training session that evening. Parents from all school districts are invited to attend this event. This is for parents to come and gain critical information to protect themselves and their children from cyber harm.”
The Child Protection Summit is August 4 at the Henry Hood Center for Health Research at Geisinger Medical Center. Registration is $20 and can be done online at www.csgiving.org (Jennifer Wakeman)
