LEWISBURG – It’s been three years since Taylor Bingaman fell down the stairs in his home in Mifflinburg and sustained a severe head injury. His mother Nicole says it has been a long road back to health for Bingaman, who’s recovery continues.
Bingaman said, “He has gained some independence. He is able to do things that he enjoys. He is able to hunt and to fish and to be outdoors. He is able to go out with his friends. He is able to do simple things like eat and walk and talk and in the traumatic brain injury community, those are huge milestones.”
One thing that has really helped Taylor is a weekly art class at Barn Owl Studio in Lewisburg. That’s how friend of the family Karen Nogle of Northumberland decided to organize a Celebration of Life Art Show displaying Taylor’s work along with other local artists.
Nogle said, “I love seeing how far he has come and the steps he is taking to progress forward everyday. I’m seeing in Nicole’s work and her whole family together, them creating all of the progress. Taylor is constant and positive and working really hard on many things.”
The Celebration of Life Art Show is Sunday November 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Barn Owl Art Studio in Lewisburg. You can find out more information about the event on Facebook at Celebration of Life-Art Show. (Ali Stevens)
