LEWISBURG – State troopers will be taking over Applebee’s in Lewisburg Wednesday evening. They will be waiting on tables, cooking and bartending. It’s all part of an annual fundraiser for Camp Cadet. And…customers who visit Applebee’s in Lewisburg Wednesday evening can be part of the fundraiser.
Anita Powell is general manager at Applebee’s and says this the 9th year for the fundraiser, “Tip a cop. A ten-dollar tip gets you a ten-dollar coupon for your next visit. It’s a win-win. All the tips go straight to Camp Cadet. We figured out that in the past eight years, we’ve raised just over $55-thousand.”
Trooper Rick Blair of the Milton Barracks says Camp Cadet is a week-long camp held each June at Susquehanna University, which teaches kids about law enforcement and other topics including confidence and self-esteem building.
The camp is free for the kids who register, so the fundraiser helps pay for those attending the camp. Everyone is encouraged to visit Applebee’s Wednesday evening between 5 and 9 p.m. to support Camp Cadet. To find out more, visit their website at www.svlecc.com. (Ali Stevens)
