Bucknell hosting Soup Bowl giveaway

LEWISBURG – Continuing to bring awareness to hunger in our area, the Office of Civic Engagement at Bucknell University is hosting the Empty Bowls, soup bowl giveaway Thursday March 8 at the Langone Center. People will buy a bowl of soup donated by local restaurants, then you get to keep the bowl produced by Bucknell artisans.

The event will take place from 11:30 am. to 2:30 p.m. and then again from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Lynn Pierson, Assistant Director for Community Service for the Office of Civic Engagement:

“They will see a lot of beautiful glazed bowls that are made on campus. They’ll see a lot of great soup and you’ll see a large number of Bucknell and community members largely enjoying becoming more aware about their local area.”

Pierson says the giveaway was started by artisans to bring awareness and help fight hunger, “Bucknell has a very unique twist to it. So at empty bowls, for $10, you will receive a hand-made clay bowl, and that was made by someone on the campus of Bucknell University. We also work with local restaurants and they donate soup.”
