WILLIAMSPORT – Brian Bolus of Lewisburg has already been charged by the state for illegal dumping of solid waste, and now he is charged with federal tax evasion. The president of Minuteman Environmental and several related companies, was charged Wednesday in U.S. Middle District Court, with knowingly understating the amount of income tax he and his wife owed in 2012.
PennLive.com reports the amount understated was more than $139,000. As part of a plea agreement, Bolus has agreed to pay $498,765 in taxes and penalties. Bolus is awaiting trial on charges filed in June of 2014, relating to a 20-month investigation by a statewide grand jury. He was accused of illegally dumping solid waste from natural gas drilling operations and overbilling clients. (Ali Stevens)
