WILLIAMSPORT — The News Item is reporting… A Bloomsburg woman is suing Geisinger Medical Center in federal court alleging ‘age discrimination.’ The lawsuit claims 74-year-old Mary Lunger was fired in January after more than 40 years at Geisinger.
Lunger worked as a contact lens technician since 1990 and says new management pressured her with impossible workloads. She alleges supervisors suggested she retire and replaced her with a younger employee.
The lawsuit cites violations of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. Lunger seeks back pay, damages, attorney’s fees, and other relief. Geisinger has not publicly commented.
