BLOOMSBURG – All 75 rides at this year’s Bloomsburg Fair will be ready for your enjoyement…except for one. A ride inspector from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has ruled the “Wild Claw” unsafe. The inspector issued a stop-use order to shut the ride down.
The ruling is due in part to a fatal accident on a similar type of ride at the Ohio State Fair in late July. According to the ride inspector, the “Wild Claw” has a similar steel piece prone to breaking, which contributed to the fatal incident in Ohio.
The ride is owned by Reithoffer Shows, who is the long time ride provider at the fair. Reithoffer is working with the fair to remove the Wild Claw from the fairgrounds. Additionally, starting tomorrow, ticket collectors at entrance gates will be handing out filers about ride safety as you enter the fair. (Matt Catrillo)
