DANVILLE –  A popular Danville restaurant will be torn down more than three years after a fire. The Daily Item reports BJ’s Steak and Rib House owner Bob Kirkpatrick said it would be too costly.

The restaurant has been vacant since a fire Easter Sunday in 2014. Kirkpatrick said trying to restore the place would be “like throwing away money.” He said he reached the conclusion about a month ago. Kirkpatrick said he has contacted someone to take down the building. He hopes the building will be razed by January 1.

Kirkpatrick hasn’t given up on Danville. Kirkpatrick said he’s still looking at a location in Danville to rent for a steak and rib house. BJ’s opened in downtown Danville in 1987, serving customers for 27 years. (Matt Catrillo)
