LEWISBURG—The dreary weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Lewisburg Area School District officials at their groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lewisburg High School. A huge crowd of alumni, students, school board and citizens watched as the first scoop of dirt was dug.
Superintendent Dr. Mark DiRocco said the program was about the past, present and future, “I think it was a nice flow of connecting the community to the past and to where we’re going to go in the future.”
Senator Gene Yaw (R-23rd, Williamsport), Lewisburg mayor Judy Wagner and other dignitaries of the community were in the audience. Wagner says it was great to be among the alumni, “It was impressive to be here with some of my good alumni friends. Graham Showalter, Bob Brouse, Kelly Supervisors and people who were alumni who have graduated from Lewisburg High School and to see their continued support for the program and mostly for the families of our communities.”
The ceremony was followed with a reception at the Kelly Elementary School. The $36 million project is set start ‘laying footers’ by May. (Lauren Koch)
