Bicyclist killed in Route 147 accident

SUNBURY – State police have identified a bicyclist killed in an accident on Route 147 near Brush Valley Road.   Troopers say 47-year-old Matthew Buck of Selinsgrove was riding a bicycle south on Route 147 in Upper Augusta Township, around 5:45 a.m. this morning,  when he made an abrupt left turn and was struck by a car.

 

Buck was thrown onto the hood of the car and landed on the road.  He was not wearing a helmet and may have been wearing headphones at the time of the accident.  Buck was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  The driver of the car from Sunbury was not hurt and will not be charged for the accident.  Route 147 was closed for four hours following the accident.
