BENTON – A Benton man is jailed at the Columbia County Prison, charged with sexually assaulting a woman on Sunday. State police say 30-year-old Michael Gordner assaulted the woman at her home in Benton early Sunday morning.
He is accused of punching, pushing and choking her. The woman tried to leave several times, but Gordner prevented her from doing so and held scissors to her throat. State police say Gordner then repeatedly sexually assaulted the woman. The woman was able to escape when Gordner fell asleep and ran to a neighbor’s home to call 911.
She was treated for multiple injuries including a fractured orbital bone. Gordner was arrested and arraigned and sent to prison on $100,000 cash bail. He has a preliminary hearing September 28. (Ali Stevens)
