SUNBURY – A boy charged with attempted homicide has been granted house arrest. The News Item reports 15-year-old Gage Hertzog will be permitted to reside with his parents in Atlas following a ruling Wednesday by Judge William Wiest.
Hertzog must wear an electronic monitoring device and is not permitted to have contact with his grandmother, who also is facing charges for the December 9 incident. Police say Hertzog and his grandmother, Carol Whary, shot at Whary’s stepson and neighbor, Dean Whary, in a field behind Whary’s home. Police say evidence from the scene will take several months to process, so a trial date has not yet been set.
