Area school districts could soon see state funding

image3SELINSGROVE – It’s been 140 days and still no budget for Pennsylvania, but the end could be near. Governor Tom Wolf’s budget could bring about $350-million to be distributed among all state school districts, and may be passed before Thanksgiving.

Selinsgrove Superintendent Chad Cohrs says any option the state takes to distribute the money will benefit Selinsgrove, “At this point any additional funding is going to help us so I’m okay with either one right now as long as it results in more funding for us.”

Two possible options could be to restore funding before the major cuts or to allocate money based on number of students and poverty in the school district. (Lauren Koch)
