An update on the work on the fabridam at Sunbury

SUNBURY – The dam project is right on schedule, so says the manager of the Shikellamy State Parks.  John Clifford is overseeing the installation of two new fabridam bags at Sunbury.

He says the dam is fully deflated and flashboards are set up at the work sites. The causeway and coffer dam construction is progressing and removal of bag 7 on the Shamokin Dam side is set for next week. Clifford says the causeway and coffer dam will be finished and bag removals will continue soon.

Two of the fabridam bags are being replaced, bags one and seven.  They are the bags closest to the Sunbury side and the shoreline on the Shamokin Dam side. The fabridam work shortened the boating season on Lake Augusta and was timed to take advantage of what are typically times of low water flow in August and September.
