American Cancer Society will hold local dog walk

drew dogsMILTON – A canine event to fight cancer will be held in Milton Saturday. The American Cancer Society Bark for Life is holding a noncompetitive walk event for dogs, and their owners, to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer. 94KX’s Drew Kelly and Ali Stevens talked to organizers Frank and Sandy Muscarella about the event.

Sandy and Frank discussed how vital the dogs are to the cancer patients, “A lot of people don’t have family. They just have dogs and they are their companions. They’ve helped them get through a really rough time. Pets, dogs themselves especially, bring a calmness in our lives and an amount of love that is unconditional.”

The event will also include many activities that dogs and their owners can take part in, “We have pet photographers, a pet artist, a balloon artist will be there. There will also be an opportunity to adopt pets there too. There will be several organizations there with us. Rescue Road Warrior is one, they are wonderful people. They have the warrior pet run and animal care pet hospital. They have been with us from the beginning.”

The Milton Area Bark for Life will take place this Saturday at Brown Avenue Park in Milton. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the dog walk will begin at 10. Registration is $10.00 per dog. (Alex Reichenbach)
