SUNBURY – We all know what causes our seasonal allergies…pollen, animal dander, dust, and dirt. However, a recent study says the reason some people may suffer from some allergies is they aren’t around dirt enough.
Dr. Nathan Hare joined Wednesday’s WKOK Sunrise program to explain why, “With less exposure to dirt over the years, people are actually not getting the exposure to dirt they need to develop healthy immune systems and then they’re immune systems get skewed away from the healthy development towards an allergy type immune reaction.”
Dr. Hare also says anyone with allergies who wants to keep their house dust free constantly is in a losing battle, “You’d have to try some chemical methods, and there are some chemicals you can put down in your carpet that might kill the dust mites, but the problem is they just come back and you have to put them down once a week and at that point its not worth having all those chemicals in your house.”
