All new Relay For Life happening this weekend in the Valley

SUNBURY– There is a new Relay For Life coming up this weekend. Lewisburg, Milton and Selinsgrove area Relay For Life groups are coming together for the first annual Relay For Life of the Susquehanna Valley.

Marguerite Santorine the Relay For Life representative from Lewisburg says, “We are doing this because we just felt that is was better if we pull everybody from the Susquehanna Valley together to attack cancer from every angle, and that’s exactly what we are doing. The three communities have been relaying for fifty-three years and we just felt that it was time we put all our efforts into one relay for the Susquehanna Valley.”

Relay For Life of the Susquehanna Valley will be held Saturday at the Pawling Athletic Complex in Lewisburg, and the public is encouraged to attend. Jen Bernstein, the Selinsgrove leader for the event says this year’s event will be shorter in an attempt to boost participation, ” The day of the event in years past has been twenty-four hours now this year we are segwaying into a twelve hour relay and we are doing this to maintain participation.”

The day begins with the Brandon Fisher Memorial 5K Run at 8:30 am. The rest of the 10am to 10pm event offers food trucks, local vendors and entertainment.
