UNDATED — Remembering what happened on 9-11 16 years ago. There will be remembrance ceremonies occuring throughout the Valley next week.
The Northumberland American Legion Post 44 will hold a remembrance ceremony at 7 p.m. Monday at King Street Park in Northumberland. It will be held at the Post 44 building in the event of inclement weather. Their ceremony includes Judge Hugh Jones as the keynote speaker.
Bloomsburg University’s military students and volunteers will be setting up their annual 9/11 memorial display. It will honor veterans who have lost their lives since the terrorist attacks. The group will be placing 7,000 flags on the Academic Quad starting Sunday at 9 a.m.
Many of The Valley’s firefighters, EMTs and law enforcement officers will march 34.3 miles from Lycoming County to Mifflinburg beginning Sunday at 3 a.m. They should reach Mifflinburg by 2 p.m. Local residents are encouraged to walk the final mile-and-a-half along Route 45 to the company building on Chestnut Street.
