DANVILLE — The Daily Item is reporting… A 13-year-old boy driving his mother’s car ended up in Mahoning Creek near Danville Middle School on Thursday afternoon. Around 1 p.m., scanner reports indicated that the teen was driving an SUV from Northumberland toward Danville via Route 11.
Danville Officer Jared Bangs reported that the vehicle entered the middle school parking lot, crossed over the dike, and ended up in the creek, where the boy continued driving until the vehicle stopped.
The teen was uninjured, and a backhoe was used to safely remove the car from the creek, preventing damage to the dike. Multiple agencies, including Danville, Mahoning Township, and Point Township police, along with emergency services, responded to the scene.
