State Lawmakers Announce LSA Funding The LIST HERE

HARRISBURG – Communities across the region are set to receive significant funding for infrastructure and public service projects. Mark Lawrence reports on the ‘Local Share’ funding from the state’s gambling revenues:

One of the largest allocations is $800,000 to the Milton Area School District to replace the HVAC system at Milton Middle School.

The two biggest grants are in Lycoming County, Montgomery Water Authority will receive $996,000, and Williamsport Municipal Water Authority is set to receive $963,251 for water main replacement projects.

Additional funding includes $600,000 for Penn Township to construct a second well and $591,000 for Monroe Township to rehabilitate its sanitary sewer system. Sunbury City Municipal Authority will receive $400,000 for flood control improvements, while Shikellamy School District will use $400,000 for a roof replacement at Oaklyn Elementary School.

Local safety and infrastructure projects include $350,000 for the Danville Municipal Authority to replace a water main, $268,988 for Watsontown Borough to purchase emergency responder radios, and $250,000 for Riverside Borough to upgrade sanitary sewers.

Other funds include $200,000 for HVAC renovations at the Danville Area Community Center and $113,544 for upgrades to the Main Fair Community building in Limestone Township, among various smaller projects.

This region’s lawmakers, State Senators Lynda Schlegel Culver, and Gene Yaw announced the funding, along with state house members Davie Rowe, Mike Stender, and Joanne Stehr.

Here is a list of the projects as announced by the lawmakers:

  • Beavertown Borough, $450,000 to make improvements to the wastewater treatment plant at Beavertown Municipal Authority. LSA funds will be used for construction, engineering, and administrative costs.
  • Monroe Township, $590,908 to replace Hummels Wharf Municipal Authority facilities with obstructions and root intrusions, which cause clogging and overflow issues. LSA funds will be used for infrastructure, engineering, and administrative costs.
  • Franklin Township, $237,075 to purchase two ultraviolet disinfection systems for Middleburg Borough and Franklin Township’s wastewater treatment plants. LSA funds will be used to purchase equipment and for installation, engineering, and administrative costs.
  • Perry Township, $193,266 for Fremont Fire Department to purchase new portable and mobile radios for its 38 firefighters. LSA funds will be used to purchase this equipment.
  • Juniata Valley YMCA, $600,000 to purchase and install a new climate control system in its 25-year-old pool. LSA funds will be used for equipment purchases, construction, engineering, and administrative costs.
  • Midd West Middle School – $1.1 million for roof replacement.
  • Montgomery Water Authority – $996,000 for Broad Street and Wagner Avenue Water Main Replacement Project.
  • Williamsport Municipal Water Authority – $963,251 for Water Main Replacement Project.
  • Milton Area School District – $800,000 to replace Milton Middle School’s HVAC system.
  • Penn Township Municipal Authority – $600,000 to construct a second well for improved reliability.
  • Juniata Valley YMCA – $600,000 for a climate control system for its pool.
  • Lewisburg Area School District’s Donald H. Eichhorn Middle School – $500,000 for roof replacement.
  • Beavertown Municipal Authority – $450,000 for improvements to the wastewater treatment plant.
  • Sunbury City Municipal Authority – $400,000 for flood control system improvements.
  • Shikellamy School District – $400,000 for roof replacement at Oaklyn Elementary School.
  • Danville Municipal Authority – $350,000 to replace 2,000 feet of water main.
  • Watsontown Borough – $268,988 to purchase emergency responder radios for Warrior Run Consolidated Fire Service Cooperative.
  • Riverside Borough – $250,000 for sanitary sewer line replacement.
  • Sunbury City – $225,000 for Department of Public Works building repairs.
  • Lewis Township – $209,068 for Old State Road bridge replacement project.
  • Danville Area Community Center – $200,000 for HVAC renovations for the swimming pool.
  • Montour County – $113,544 for upgrades to the Main Fair Community Building in Limestone Township.
  • Milton Borough – $100,000 to purchase new public works equipment.
  • Warrior Run School District – $100,000 for safety upgrades at the Junior/Senior High School.
  • Mahoning Township – $95,929 to purchase police body cameras and cameras for vehicles and interview rooms.
  • Buffalo Township Municipal Sewer Authority – $30,000 to purchase a pick-up truck for maintenance and snow plowing.
