STATE COLLEGE – The impact from Debbie continues to impact our region:
Water levels rose rapidly during the day and many small streams and creeks left their banks and caused extensive flooding and heavy damage. Some roads are still closed, and many properties were extensively damaged or destroyed.
A flood warning is posted in Lycoming County and on the West Branch of the Susquehanna River. At Lewisburg, flood stage is 18 feet, and a crest at 20 feet is expected this evening. Minor flooding is forecast. Route 405 at Lewisburg could be impacted so check 511PA.com before traveling. The flood warning expires Sunday afternoon.
Elsewhere, Penns Creek crested at about 9 feet and is receding.
The Susquehanna River at Sunbury, Lewisburg and Danville is expected to reach or be near flood stage Monday. No widespread, catastrophic river flooding is expected but minor flooding is expected.
PPL has about 9,000 outages system wide as a result of the storm. In our region, Schuylkill County has over 900 wiithout power. There are outages in every county in our region, totallying about customers affected around here.

In the Halifax area of Upper Dauphin Count, Route 147 is closed and will be for the foreseeable future. A spokesperson said the road is believed to have washed out in the area. The truck restriction for vehicles using Route 225 to cross Peters Mountain has been temporarily lifted because of the closure.
Rainfall amounts were between 3 and 6 inches locally.
There were rescues along Buffalo Creek near Mifflinburg, near Lewisburg on Buffalo Creek, and along Devitt Camp Road and dozens of other rescue and emergency calls were received. The Hamilton/Rt. 61 underpass was closed for a time.
The Union County Emergency Operations Center was activated as a train of thunderstorms dumped several inches of rain on the region.
Lycoming County officials declared a Disaster Emergency for Hepburn and Lycoming Townships. People were encouraged to evacuate. As a result of the declaration, people were told to leave their homes prior to needing to be rescued.
There was major flooding, extensive property damage, evacuations and impacts reported in Lycoming and Tioga Counties. The National Guard was brought into help with the flood response in Tioga County, especially Westfield where there were multiple rescues and impacts from the storm.
From the Sun Gazette… The Jersey Shore Water Authority is asking customers to boil their water. Jersey Shore Water Authority said they lost water treatment abilities due to flooding so they say do not drink the water without boiling it first.
Trout Run’s Fire Hall was evacuated around noon Friday due to flooding from Little Trout Run. The evacuees were being moved to Hepburn Township Fire Hall. The fire hall was nearly destroyed by flood waters.
The mail stopped in Williamsport when the post office was surrounded by water. Some of the roads near the post office had three feet of water on them.
Near Harrisburg, a tornado was confirmed as an F 3.5 strength storm with winds over 100 miles per hour.
In all Valley counties, a disaster emergency was declared so state agencies can seek funding to get resources and help municipalities and the counties as they start to recover.
WASHINGTONVILLE – The Washingtonville Volunteer Fire Company Festival is still on today. 11am to 9pm, they’ll have craft vendors, chicken BBQ, live music, food and ice cream, games, a Chinese auction, 50/50 and a raffle. The event is at 121 Strawberry Ridge Road, in the Washingtonville area..
