Hookies Block Party Rocked, Lawmakers Bring ‘Resolutions’

NORTHUMBERLAND – Music played, refreshments flowed, and VIPs brought plaques.  State Senator Lynda Schlegel Culver and State House member Mike Stender were welcomed at the Hookies block party in Northumberland over the weekend. They were there to see everyone and to present state senate and house resolutions honoring the fire company on their 150th anniversary.

Fire company president Dave Hummel said the event was an incredible success, surpassing their expectations, about 5,000 people were there for the Badlees concert. He said thanks to the overwhelming support of our generous sponsors, the sales of refreshments at the event, and donations, they covered their expenses.

Looking ahead, he said the Hookies are gearing up for their next big gathering—the annual clambake scheduled for September 1st. Hummel said they are also excited about the number of people who signed up to be volunteers, while at the Northumberland Hook and Ladder Company.
