Virginia Angler Wins Susquehanna River Kayak Fishing Tourney

LEWISBURG – Smallmouth bass anglers caught almost 2,500 fish in the Susquehanna River over the weekend, and some of those fish were 20 inches or more.  There was also a lots of attention was focused on The Valley over the weekend. A national kayak bass fishing tournament was held here. In the end, it was an angler from Virginia who won the tournament, and over $11,600 in prize money. The Susquehanna River Valley Visitors Bureau hosted the tournament.

Ewing Minor of Virginia won the first Bassmaster Kayak Series title on Susquehanna River. Second place went to Kristine Fisher of Nebraska, who now is bass fishing full time.  Who pays for the tournament, the sponsor, Yamaha Rightwaters Bassmaster Kayak Series at Susquehanna River scored by TourneyX.

Minor said in a news release from the tournament, the Susquehanna River is the best river in the country, several smallies were caught which were over 20 inches. The tournament was based in Lewisburg but over 200 anglers were free to fish anywhere on the river in this region. Over 2,400 bass were caught, according to organizers.
