SUNBURY – There’s word today a section of a busy street in Sunbury is blocked for utility work. Derrick Backer, City Administrator said, “Packer Street from Susquehanna Avenue to Front Street will be closed starting Monday to perform construction work that includes, digging under roadway, water, sewer, stormwater utility, and roadway reconstruction.
The detour will be Edison Avenue and Regan Street to access both Packer Street and Front Street. The trucking companies along Packer Street were advised to take their vehicles to North 4th Street due to Edison Avenue being more residential and turning out on Reagan Street could be difficult…The Susquehanna Avenue Phase 1 project is on schedule and construction should be completed sometime this fall.”
Delays are likely. The street will reopen this fall, according to Backer.
