SUNBURY – Memorial Day activities in Sunbury and Northumberland are set for Monday morning.
Sunbury’s Memorial Day parade and service is a joint effort of Sunbury’s American Legion and the VFW. American Legion Post 201 Adjutant Jack Minnier tells us, the parade forms at 8am at Raspberry Avenue near 10th Street, and the parade will step off at 8:30am.
When they reach Cameron Park, they will have the Remembrance Ceremony. He said Richard Cassen III, the Commander of the VFW 1532 at Sunbury will host the service, the speaker will be US military veteran, businessman, and active community leader Robert Zimmerman Jr. The Shikellamy Marching Braves and the Sunbury City Band will be present.
The VFW and American Legion are thanking city’s police department, fire police, Shikellamy’s Junior ROTC, and Sunbury Motor Company.
Northumberland parade is scheduled to step off at 11:00am at King Street Park and move out Second Street and up Orange Street. The service in Riverview Cemetery will follow the conclusion of the parade.
