PA Headlines: Capitol Repairs Complete, Gambling Down in PA

HARRISBURG – WHTM is reporting… Renovations to the Pennsylvania State House are now complete.  On Wednesday, workers were seen removing scaffolding and taking it over to the senate chamber for routine maintenance.

House Democratic leaders say the repairs of its building were completed ahead of schedule. Water damage from a roof leak, they say, was modest.  But it caused the house to be closed for session until mid-March.

HARRISBURG – WHTM is reporting… Pennsylvanians gambled more than $71 million on the Super Bowl, leaving the state with more than $11 million in revenue.  The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board says preliminary figures show $71,554,100 was wagered in Pennsylvania on Sunday’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs.

This year’s total bets were down 15% over last year, but this year, the Eagles weren’t in the game.   Revenue for the state is expected to be  $11,062,911 compared to $29,722,902 in 2023.

Super Bowl LVIII is the sixth Super Bowl where Pennsylvania residents could legally gamble and the fourth where online betting was available. More than 875,000 online betting accounts were active in Pennsylvania during the Super Bowl, up from 793,000 last year, according to GeoComply.

WAYNE COUNTY – WBRE is reporting… Police in Wayne County are investigating an incident where several pitbulls attacked two people resulting in a woman having to amputate an arm.

Police say multiple dogs were found in the roadway and a woman was severely injured.  Both victims sustained injuries, with one being treated and discharged, while the woman required a partial arm amputation.

Through further investigation troopers said Lori Mulvey, who had previously rented the property, had been evicted but left her dogs behind until she secured alternative accommodation.
