SHAMOKIN — THE DAILY ITEM REPORTS….The grandmother of a 10-year-old Shamokin resident is thankful for the Here. For Good. fund because she said it leaves no child behind.
Carmella said times are tough and the Here. For Good fund is helping people across the Valley.
“This is wonderful and just so helpful during tough times,” Carmella said. “I wanted to make sure my grandson had a great Christmas, and this fund allows that to happen and takes a huge burden off me.”
Carmella said the meals that are provided thanks to the campaign are also helpful.
“It’s so hard on everyone right now,” she said. “These meals are wonderful, and I am very grateful we are being helped.”
Carmella said if she is ever in a position to give back to the fund, she would.
“I would absolutely want to help other people,” she said. “This fund helps people and gives children a reason to smile. No child feels left out at the holidays.”
The Here. For Good. campaign is a continuation of the Needy Family Fund which has raised more than $3.35 million since 1987 during the holiday season to help the Valley’s families. The campaign is administered by Salvation Army citadels in Milton and Sunbury and sponsored by The Daily Item, Sunbury Broadcasting Corp. and Mifflinburg Bank & Trust.
Donors can make checks payable to Here. For Good. Campaign and mail or drop them off at any location of program co-sponsor Mifflinburg Bank & Trust. Donors also can mail a check to 250 E. Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844, or donate online at www.hereforgoodcampaign.org.
