Danville Heritage Returns This Weekend, With Arts & Crafts Fest

Danville Heritage Festival is Back

DANVILLE – A big community celebration of all things Danville is back this weekend. The Danville Heritage Festival has been a tradition since the late 1990’s, and this year’s festival will be in conjunction with this Saturday’s Fall Arts & Crafts Festival.

Organizer Van Wagner says mine tours and another festival favorite are back, “This year, we’re gonna move to the Robbins Trail, what a lot of local people call ‘the cycle path.’ One of the deepest mines in the Danville area that I’ve been researching was right there. Also, the train rides are back, but tickets will need to be purchased.”

Tickets can be purchased through the Danville Business Alliance Office.

The annual concluding event, the hymn sing at the Susquehanna River is also back Sunday evening at 6:30 at Montgomery Park, “Folks are encouraged to bring a chair. We usually have copies of song books and some acoustic instruments and we sing by the river and sing very traditional hymns, some of which were written in Pennsylvania or by people with connections to the area.”

Saturday events will be centered around Mill Street, with special events at other locations throughout the Danville community on both Friday and Saturday. You can also witness living history presentations, historic tours of Danville, live music, vendors, great food, and fireworks Saturday night, along with hikes, a 5K run/walk and much more.
