CDC: Northumberland, Montour, Still Have ‘High’ COVID Spread

HARRISBURG – The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released its latest COVID-19 risk maps and 10 PA counties are in the ‘High Risk,’ category, including Northumberland and Montour counties.

The CDC said both counties had high case counts and a high number of hospital admissions over the past week, with roughly five percent of available inpatient beds used for COVID patients. Other High risk counties include Clearfield, Elk, Forest, Mercer, Fulton, Franklin and Carbon.

The CDC designated Snyder and Union counties as having ‘medium spread’ along with 15 other counties throughout the state at ‘medium,’ and 40 counties are at low risk.

The CDC map also highlights the fact Pennsylvania is surrounded by states with the majority of its counties designated high spread areas.

Masking indoors, staying up-to-date with vaccines and testing when you experience symptoms are the three main recommendations from the CDC.

They also advise avoiding crowded areas, washing hands often and staying current with vaccinations for coronavirus and flu.
