Northumberland County Elections Director Now Chief Clerk
SUNBURY – It’s been a period of transition in the Northumberland County Administration Building. County Elections Director Nathan Savidge is moving into the role of Chief Clerk, taking over for the retired Mary Rose McCarthy.
He told WKOK’s On The Mark his top priority so far has been addressing employee and department morale, making sure every county employee knows they’re appreciated, “We’ve been in departments, and when I say we, (Commissioner) Chairman (Sam) Schiccatano and I have visited several departments regularly.”
“Since I’ve been here for two months, we’ve been in Children and Youth five or six times, and a lot of times, it’s just about seeing your employees, about being present for them. Certainly Commissioner (Kymberley) Best and Commissioner (Joe) Klebon have been over to the other departments,” he said.
Commissioner Chairman Sam Schiccatano reflected on McCarthy’s many years of service on WKOK’s On The Mark, “She was involved in everything. She sort of became, I told her, my psychiatrist, because every time I needed to talk to somebody, we would spend a lot of time either in the office or on the phone talking. You need those kinds of people.”
Taking over as Director of Elections is Lindsay Phillips, the former assistant director.
