CBS’ Krasula: This is Worst Inflation This Country’s Ever Seen

CBS Correspondent Calls This ‘Worst Inflation Ever Seen’

GREENSBORO, N.C. – One CBS News Correspondent is painting a bleak picture when it comes to the current inflation crisis across the country.

CBS’ Jim Krasula said this on WKOK’s On The Mark, “This is among, I think, the worst inflation this country’s ever seen, certainly if you ask anybody on Main Street. But I have to say also, it certainly appears to me that perhaps there’s some attitude out there that, ‘hey, prices are ridiculous but I have to live my life, what else can I do?’”

Krasula says another part of that attitude is pent-up demand after the pandemic.

Republicans in Washington also heavily criticized President Biden recently, calling the current gas price landscape as a way to get more people to buy electric vehicles and to pass the Green New Deal. Krasula says that’s not out of the question, “The reality is a lot more people are buying these electric vehicles and perhaps with gas prices running $5, $6 in California, maybe that’s gonna push more people to buy an electric vehicle.”

However, he says oil companies ‘ripping people off’ are also to blame for current high gas prices, raising prices overnight without explanation.  He said it’s going to take some time for the country to recover from the current state of inflation:

“One of the federal reserve members from St. Louis was saying he thinks it’s going to be a good couple of years before they can get this inflation down and back to where it was where it’s not so much of a burden financially on people.”
