Bloom U, Mansfield, Lock Haven, now ‘Commonwealth University’

Commonwealth University Becomes a Reality

LOCK HAVEN–Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, and Mansfield universities are now integrated under the banner of Commonwealth University. The schools say the integration is the culmination of more than 18 months of work by nearly 1,000.

The university says they process began in March when the institutional accrediting agency, Middle States Commission on Higher Education, approved the path to integration. This is required by the U.S. Department of Education to “assure students, families, and communities that the University has completed a rigorous review process and provides a high-quality education.”

In late April, the NCAA approved proceeding with the proposed plan to retain the full complement of NCAA athletic programs on each campus. The campuses will keep its full complement of sports and will continue to use its existing logos, colors, mascots, location name, and traditions.

Bashar W. Hanna, who will serve as president of Commonwealth University, stated, “My sincere thanks to the teams at each of our universities who have dedicated themselves tirelessly to the integration process and to creating opportunitiesĀ  for a new generation of students to follow their dreams and pursue lives of meaning and success.”
