Riverkeeper HERYN Program Runs Next Week
NEW COLUMBIA – The Middle Susquehanna Riverkeeper is bringing back the HERYN Program, after a highly successful year last year. Riverkeeper John Zaktansky says it will be held Monday through Friday next week at the Central PA Wesleyan Campground near New Columbia.
Zaktansky says 74 young people representing central, northcentral, and northeast Pennsylvania are signed up. They will rotate throughout the week with kayaking and fishing throughout the day, building skills and confidence to a point of competition late in the day on the lake.
In addition, Zaktansky says each day will end with a presentation on watersheds, pollution and things the participants can do to make a difference at home.
