WILKES-BARRE – With gas prices and inflation higher than ever, Valley residents continue dialing 2-1-1 for assistance with rent and housing. That’s the word from the Family Service Association of Northeastern Pennsylvania, who’s been distributing monthly 2-1-1 reports.

The association says in May, there were 149 contacts from our area, most of which included seeking help paying monthly rent or needing various housing assistance. There were also calls asking for help with utility payments such as electricity.
