Northumberland County Back Down to ‘Medium’ Spread of COVID

Masking Still Appropriate in Montour County

VALLEY – Some good news for Northumberland County residents . . . In today’s updated coronavirus spread risk maps, the CDC officially dropped Northumberland County back down to ‘medium spread’ from its recent ‘high’ designation.

Montour County remains at high spread, meaning the CDC recommends wearing a mask indoors in public and on public transportation throughout the county.  Snyder and Union’s are both listed at medium spread.

No significant trend up or down for hospital admissions. Admissions were the same for all four counties, another metric the CDC uses to determine spread risk.

The CDC said 95% of Montour County’s senior population (65 and older) is fully vaccinated and 90% of adults (18 and older) are fully vaccinated throughout the county. Northumberland and Union County rates are around 85% for seniors and 65% for adults. About half of Snyder County adults and 75% of its senior population are fully vaccinated.

The CDC said anyone with symptoms, a positive test or contact with someone who has COVID-19 should wear a mask to protect others from exposure to the virus.
