St. Pius X Catholic Church Changing Pastors
SELINSGROVE – St. Pius X Catholic Church in Selinsgrove will be saying good-bye to its current pastor and welcoming in a new one next month. Diocese of Harrisburg Bishop Ronald Gainer announced this Monday as part of new clergy assignments set to take affect across the Diocese.
Bishop Gainer says current St. Pius X Pastor, Reverend Tukura Pius Michael, will head to Saint John the Baptist Parish in New Freedom, and will also serve as York College’s Campus Minister.
Bishop Gainer says coming in as new Pastor at St. Pius X is Reverend Joshua Cavender, who will also serve as Campus Minister of Susquehanna University.
The bishop says these changes take effect June 2022. The Diocese says every year Bishop Gainer works with the Priest Personnel Board to make assignment decisions for the Diocesan clergy, in an effort to meet the needs of parishes and fulfill the mission of the Church. Priests and deacons are selected for assignments based on a variety of factors, including local needs and the clergy member’s skills, experience, availability, and health.
