UNIVERSITY PARK – Onward State is reporting… Some Penn State campus landmarks, including the Lion Shrine, Old Main, and the Hintz Family Alumni Center, were the targets of a vandalism attack that was uncovered Sunday morning.
University police established a perimeter around the Lion Shrine, which was blemished by a red substance akin to blood.
Old Main was also graffitied. Big red letters covered the main door and blue words that read different messages covered other entrances to the building.
Onward State reports… The Hintz Family Alumni Center was a target of these attacks too. An entrance was covered in red letters with a message for administrators as well.
“These are profoundly disturbing acts, at a time when many families are taking photos and celebrating the educational accomplishments of their graduates,” the university added.
Other campus landmarks like the Berkey Creamery, the “We Are” Statue, and Beaver Stadium did not have any visible graffiti as of 9:45 a.m. on Sunday.
Penn State Police did not have any additional information or a comment available. Anyone with more information is encouraged to contact University Police at 814-863-1111 or submit an online tip here.
