Lewisburg Upcoming Outdoor Community Events
LEWISBURG – Lewisburg Neighborhoods has holding some fun spring time outdoor events this month and next month. They have a ‘Tree Tenders’ educational event in about two weeks, and the River Road Holiday is next month. As for tree tenders, the volunteers will learn how to take care of some newly planted trees:
“Folks can understand how we grow trees. This will include identification, tree biology, pruning, planting, everything you need to know to be an active participant in ensuring that these trees succeed.”
Taylor Lightman, Lewisburg Neighborhoods’ Executive Director says Saturday April 23 a representative from the Penn State Extension Agency will be at the Union County Government Center to give a tree tenders training course. Also on the calendar, Lightman tells us the May 8 River Road Holiday will be for bike riders, walkers and event skateboarders., etc.
Taylor was on a recent WKOK Sunrise interview where he also talked about a survey being conducted for the Lewisburg Climate Action Plan. Bucknell student and researcher Maggie McConnell tells us the approximate 5-page survey will be out soon.
“What we really want to get is their perception of the current Climate Action Policy in Lewisburg, how it’s doing, and what they want from future Climate Action, and what they think of the objectives that we’ve come up with”
McConnell says that, while the survey pertains to Lewisburg, all supporting communities are welcome to participate to aid in their research.
