WILLIAMSPORT – Lycoming County State Representative Jeff Wheeland and, (R-83rd, Loyalsock Township) announced Friday he will be retiring at the end of his current term.
In 2019 Wheeland was leading in the process of replacing US Congressman Tom Marino when accusations of spousal and child abuse surfaced and Wheeland withdrew from the race. That helped clear the field for US Congressman Fred Keller (R-12th, Kreamer, Pa) to emerge. More on that topic here:
During his his time in office, Wheeland said he earned a reputation for pushing conservative fiscal properties focusing on attracting new jobs to the state as well as focused on the correlation between a strong education system and economic and job growth.
Wheeland and was first elected to the House in November 2014 and says he’ll still being living in Lycoming County between visiting his children in different parts of the country.
