$1.9 Billion Dollar Proposal Announced For Education Funding

HARRISBURG – Governor Tom Wolf announced Friday his proposal for a $1.9 billion dollar investment in educational funding.

The investment would be split-up and given to schools to help students pre-K to college.

Gov. Wolf says the investment is essential for the state’s future. “Pennsylvania’s in a better financial place now I think because we’ve set our kids up for success by investing in the schools.”

Wolf defended his budget proposal by explaining the importance of education and equated his proposed investment is similar to investing in a business.

“I’m not sure threes anything that a state government with a limited role in so many areas should invest in that’s more important than education. When I was in business, I invested in things that made my business grow. As governor I did the same thing and it’s worked.” Wolf explained.

Wolf also said the investment will be divided equally among schools in Pennsylvania so each school will have their fair share of money.
