SHAMOKIN DAM – Red Cross called to assist displaced family . . . The Central Susquehanna Regional 911 Center was busy dispatching fire and emergency crews at 11:30 Saturday night. A fire destroyed a family home in Shamokin Dam.
Dispatchers said the scene was cleared at 2:30 Sunday morning by nine Valley fire crews.
Dispatchers said a family of two were inside the home when the fire started and were able to get out in time; no injuries were reported. They also said the Red Cross has been called to assist the family with relocation, as the structure is not livable but still standing.
Dispatchers said fire crews from Shamokin Dam, Hummels Wharf, Selinsgrove, Middleburg, Kratzerville, Winfield, Lewisburg, Sunbury and Northumberland – as well as emergency crews from Hummels Wharf, Selinsgrove and Sunbury – assisted at the scene.
